Job Summary

MacAllister Machinery Company, Inc. is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Field Technician to join our team. As a key member of our service team, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing equipment in the field, ensuring that our customers receive exceptional service and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow strict safety protocols and use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment in the field, ensuring timely and accurate completion of service reports.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction by understanding customer needs and deadlines, and communicating effectively with customers regarding job status and any issues that may arise.
  • Adhere to all safety rules and maintain good housekeeping (5S) in the work area.
  • Keep customers updated on the status of jobs and advise them of any issues or stopping points that may cause a delay.
  • Carry a company cell phone and be available 24/7 to respond to customer inquiries and provide support.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent, with technical background provided through a vocational school with studies in diesel equipment repair.
  • 3 to 5 years' mechanical experience with equipment, preferably with Caterpillar, and a strong working knowledge of hydraulics, power train, and electrical systems.
  • Solid understanding of work area metrics, with a focus on improving metrics and results, and a willingness to contribute to 6 Sigma initiatives.
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify problems, solicit other's opinions, and offer valid solutions.
  • Ability to respond to customer requests with a sense of urgency, treating customers as the highest priority, and taking personal responsibility for customer satisfaction.
  • Professionalism and ability to project a positive image with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance and friendly, courteous treatment of peers, subordinates, and customers.
