Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Truck and Bus Shop Technician to join our team at MacAllister Machinery. As a key member of our Service Department, you will be responsible for performing mechanical services on trucks and buses, both new and used.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform service and repairs on engines, drivetrain, chassis, and electrical systems.
  • Diagnose problems and provide service and repairs on purchased on-highway vehicles.
  • Prepare and deliver new and used vehicles for both truck and bus groups.
  • Install dealer-supplied components, such as cameras and heaters.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot customer electrical and mechanical problems.
  • Initiate and complete all associated paperwork, including service reports and time records.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction by understanding their needs and time constraints.
  • Maintain company equipment and tools by keeping them in good working order.
Requirements
  • High school education or equivalent with a technical background or additional training preferred.
  • 3-5 years of mechanical experience with diesel engines and/or in a position with a working knowledge of hydraulics, electrical, engine, and component repairs.
  • Excellent decision-making skills, creative thinking, and goal-setting skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to operate a PC, especially a laptop, with an excellent understanding of industry-specific programs.
  • Strong influence and negotiation skills, good coaching and counseling skills, and strong project management skills.
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision and achieve required goals and objectives.
  • Valid Class B CDL driver's license with air brakes or higher is preferred but not required.
