Overview:

The Medical Imaging Specialist is responsible for executing a diverse range of standard and advanced imaging techniques. This role includes providing assistance to fellow imaging professionals as required. The specialist may be assigned to various locations and must possess the ability to troubleshoot basic equipment maintenance, engage in quality assurance activities, and address issues related to image processing and archiving systems. Effective communication and behavior must align with the core values and mission of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Exhibit proficiency in the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Conduct a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures, including complex cases, while ensuring proper technique and providing clear procedural instructions to patients.
  • Assess patients for clinical contrast history and identify any potential contraindications.
  • Follow established protocols, quality assurance guidelines, and regulatory standards.
  • Engage effectively with patients and healthcare providers, coordinating and prioritizing procedures to maintain high standards of patient care.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to rotate among departments and clinics as needed.
  • Assist Radiologists or other medical professionals during invasive and fluoroscopic procedures, utilizing equipment to accurately identify anatomical locations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms, ensuring they are adequately stocked prior to procedures and comply with Infection Control standards.
  • Accurately code and enter all charges related to procedures.
  • Adapt patient assessment and care methods to meet the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs of each patient.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and refrain from disclosing any sensitive information unless necessary for job performance.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited Radiology Technology program or an equivalent qualification is required.
1-3 years of experience in a hospital setting is preferred.

Current registration with The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is mandatory.

State licensure is required.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is necessary.
