Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Operations Manager to join our team at Healthcare Staffing Plus. As a key member of our pharmacy operations team, you will be responsible for providing general oversight of daily pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory, legal, accreditation, and licensure requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive program to ensure compliance with USP 797 regulatory standards.
  • Preside as Designated Person and oversee sterile and non-sterile compounding, including hazardous and non-hazardous compounding.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining pharmacy operations' policy and procedures.
  • Participate in medication management traces to ensure adherence and compliance with TJC accreditation standards.
  • Assure that the Pharmacy complies with State and Federal laws and regulations governing pharmacy practice.
  • Provide oversight for drug procurement, storage, inventory management, and dispensing procedures to achieve fiscal goals.
  • Assure that pharmacy buyers achieve high levels of contract compliance when ordering pharmaceuticals.
  • Participate in the ongoing Omnicell optimization process to ensure effective and efficient utilization of the ADCs.
  • Participate in all regularly scheduled inventories of controlled substances.
  • Oversee the completion of monthly audits of all nursing units and other clinical areas where drugs are stored to ensure appropriate storage and security of these agents.
  • Oversee drug diversion prevention and monitoring activities, including ensuring adherence to policies and procedures, staff training and orientation, daily activities management, reporting, utilization audits, and investigations.
  • Assure proper handling and accountability for expired drugs, drug waste, and reverse distributor activities.
  • Work with staff to create and maintain the pharmacy staffing schedules.
  • Assign/re-assign staff to ensure that workload and staff are reasonably aligned to ensure responsive pharmaceutical services to patients.
  • Participate in staff interviews and selection.
  • Design and manage the Department training programs to ensure that staff are appropriately trained/oriented.
Requirements
  • Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Advanced degree (e.g., PharmD, MS, MBA, MHA) preferred.
  • ASAP-accredited residency (PGY1/PGY2) preferred.
  • West Virginia Pharmacy State License.
  • Registered Pharmacist.
  • ASHP Sterile Compounding Preparation Certificate or equivalent a plus.
  • Five (5) years of practice experience in an acute care pharmacy including USP 797, 795, and 800 experience.
  • Three (3) years of Pharmacy automation experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience with controlled substance diversion investigations.
  • Drug Diversion Prevention software knowledge a plus.
