POSITION SUMMARY
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a crucial role in delivering fundamental nursing care to patients in our clinic, adhering to established protocols and practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
– Additional duties may be assigned.
· Manage patient care responsibilities, including monitoring schedules and facilitating patient flow.
· Accompany patients to examination or procedure rooms, observing and documenting their conditions and responses to treatments.
· Assist patients with mobility, dressing, specimen collection, and preparation for examinations.
· Gather comprehensive patient histories, including current medications, allergies, and symptoms.
· Employ the nursing process to deliver patient care as directed by healthcare providers, which may involve screenings and administering medications in line with clinical standards.
· Prepare necessary equipment and support providers during patient examinations and various procedures.
· Ensure timely and precise documentation in patient records, including all interventions and communications with patients and families.
· Exhibit knowledge of safe medication administration, ensuring compliance with nursing standards.
· Serve as a communication link between patients and providers, addressing patient inquiries and messages.
· Collect and manage laboratory specimens while adhering to established safety and infection control protocols.
· Utilize electronic systems to facilitate physician referrals to NCH Healthcare Group specialists and ancillary services.
· Perform clerical tasks as needed, such as filing medical records and scheduling appointments.
· Maintain awareness of equipment conditions and document any malfunctions promptly.
· Stay informed about treatments and procedures, including any necessary patient preparations prior to testing.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
· High School diploma or GED required.
· At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting or private practice preferred.
· Current Licensed Practical Nurse license in the State of Florida.
· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an accredited organization required.
· Proven ability to accurately measure and record patient vital signs.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information effectively to patients.
· Familiarity with CPT and ICD9 coding.
· Understanding of basic and specialized medical terminology.
· Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications and general computer skills.
