Key Responsibilities:
Summary:
Responsible for executing investigations as directed by the Facility Administrator. Engages with and processes crime scenes, and prepares detailed investigative reports.

Primary Duties:

  • Conduct thorough investigative reports by gathering relevant information, interviewing involved parties, and performing necessary research to fully comprehend the event.
  • Draft reports that clearly articulate findings.
  • May recommend appropriate actions when necessary.
  • May oversee and guide non-shift Correctional Officers.
  • Act as a liaison between security and other departments.
  • Submit daily shift activity reports to the appropriate authority.
  • Review reports submitted by officers during shifts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform duties associated with the Grievance Coordinator's responsibilities.
  • Communicate information from supervisors to correctional officers.
  • Ensure officers receive on-the-job and safety training as required.
  • Verify that SSI assignments and job descriptions are appropriate.
  • Ensure pre-hearing documentation is accurate.
  • Document daily safety inspections for security areas.
  • Provide counseling to officers/inmates as needed.
  • Assist in preparing employee evaluations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Four (4) years of experience in a correctional environment, including two (2) years in a supervisory role.
  • Nine (9) months as a Correctional Officer, or six (6) months as a Correctional Officer along with 24 hours of college coursework in Criminal Justice-related fields.
  • Completion of an approved training program resulting in a certificate of satisfactory completion.
  • Must be a commissioned Corrections Officer.
  • Ability to obtain certification for training such as CPR, First Aid, and firearms.
  • Familiarity with applicable court orders.
  • Knowledge of GEO policies and procedures, as well as relevant state and federal laws.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to provide clear instructions and ensure compliance.
  • Capacity to coordinate staffing requirements for security supervisors and officers.
  • Proficient in writing communications, documents, policies, courtroom defenses, contract negotiations, and other necessary correspondence.
  • Ability to maintain composure under mental stress.
  • Capability to understand and execute moderately complex oral and written instructions.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying climatic conditions.
