Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and safety-conscious Welder to join our team at Wheeler Machinery Company in Salt Lake City, UT. As a Welder, you will be responsible for welding and fabricating various metals, reading and interpreting build prints, and following build instructions to meet and exceed estimate weld times.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safety Champion: Demonstrate and work safely in all aspects of the job, lead and model safe behaviors, and drive continued safety improvements.
  • Training and Development: Willing to train and teach a teachable employee in needed areas.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Interprets blueprints and weld symbols to ensure accurate fabrication.
  • Problem-Solving: Works with manager and team leader to solve problems and provide solutions.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work well in a team, give input, drive accountability, and train and mentor others.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to see the big picture of the job and how your contribution impacts the project.
  • Time Management: Ability to work from instruction and job routings, and perform work in desired time requirements for each task and job.
Requirements:
  • Welding Experience: Experience utilizing FCAW, GMAW, SMAW, and Carbon arc gouging processes.
  • Fabrication Skills: Experience fitting weldments per designed prints.
  • Self-Motivation: Must be a self-starter and willing to put in extra hours to take care of the customer.
  • Teamwork: Must be a team player and work well with others.
  • Positive Attitude: Must have a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Independence: Must be able to perform tasks without constant supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Heavy Welding Experience: Heavy welding in construction and/or mining equipment experience.
  • Machining Skills: Machining experience.
