Accountant

The Accountant is responsible for reconciling general ledger accounts, maintaining financial records, and preparing financial reports. The Accountant's other duties include preparing and analyzing budgets, customer invoicing, daily cash receipts, and assisting with month-end and year-end close.
This role requires a strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and the ability to analyze financial data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare adjusting journal entries as needed
- Assist in daily customer invoicing and verify payment of invoices
- Reconcile customer accounts and manage accounts receivable collections
- Support month-end and year-end close process
- Prepare financial reports, including financial statements and budget performance
- Collect, analyze, and report on job cost variances to operations and plant management
- Work with purchasing and operations management to enhance accuracy of cost components
- Aid in the development, documentation, and implementation of new accounting policies, standards, and guidelines
- Identify areas for improvement and implement process improvements
- Provide accurate, timely, and relevant recording, reporting, and analysis of financial information
- Prepare financial documents for and assist with internal and external audits
- Communicate with COO/CFO on work status and customer issues
- Ensure compliance with applicable GAAP standards, rules, regulations, and systems of internal controls
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
- Three to five years of accounting/finance experience
- Intermediate to advanced skills and knowledge in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
- Thorough knowledge of general ledger accounting and account reconciliation
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with month-end and year-end close
- Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
