Job Title: Construction General Manager

Q3 Contracting, Inc is seeking a highly skilled Construction General Manager to lead our Underground Division in Des Moines, IA.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing operations for our Midwest UG Region, fostering current business relationships, and seeking new growth opportunities within the area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage project operations throughout the Midwest region, suggesting, directing, or initiating operational changes and adjustments as required to meet business goals.
  • Conduct regular, on-going staff meetings with managers to create an environment of open and effective communications across operational areas.
  • Monitor and manage the quality process within all areas of responsibility, ensuring that every aspect of our workforce, processes, and standards meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Monitor and manage overall project profitability, taking corrective action where necessary to ensure the business performs consistently with expectations.
  • Establish and maintain frequent, on-going contact with current customers and vendors to foster improved communications and solid, long-term relationships.
  • Monitor resource sharing across operational areas to optimize effectiveness in meeting customer expectations while prudently managing resources.
  • Assist the Vice President with evaluating capital expenditures and job costs, sharing ideas regarding areas of savings and efficiencies.
  • Assist the Division Estimator with the bidding process on new projects.
  • Responsible for developing and improving company personnel, fostering an environment that rewards mentoring and encourages employee cooperation.
  • Communicate with Traffic & Restoration division Managers for resource sharing and joint responsibilities for customer job completions.
  • Communicate and cooperate with internal divisions, including Contract Administration, Human Resources, Safety and Training, and Operations, on job details and requirements.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field is preferred.
  • Experienced in reading, interpreting, and managing financial statements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of computers and Windows-based software, with skills to create, analyze, and make recommendations for financial and operational changes.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
