Overview

Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) is seeking a distinguished adult neurologist with specialized knowledge in epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology to assume the role of Head of the Peter Kellaway Section of Neurophysiology & Epilepsy within the Department of Neurology. This individual will also serve as the Director of the Baylor St. Luke's Comprehensive Epilepsy Center located in Houston, TX.

The Department of Neurology is highly esteemed and nationally ranked, collaborating with notable healthcare entities such as CHI Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center, Harris Health System, and Texas Children's Hospital.

The Peter Kellaway Section of Neurophysiology & Epilepsy is responsible for overseeing the academic, educational, clinical service, and research activities of its faculty, fellows, and staff. The Baylor-St. Luke's Comprehensive Epilepsy Center is designated as a National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC) Level IV facility, offering a comprehensive, multidisciplinary program that includes epilepsy surgery and device implantations. The center provides ACGME-accredited fellowships in both Epilepsy and Clinical Neurophysiology, catering to adult and pediatric training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directing academic, clinical, and research initiatives related to clinical neurophysiology and epilepsy.
  • Overseeing the clinical neurophysiology program, which encompasses various services such as electroencephalography (EEG), long-term EEG monitoring, intraoperative monitoring, and specialized studies.
  • Leading the multidisciplinary NAEC Level IV center, managing inpatient consultations and outpatient clinics.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess a medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) and hold certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) in Neurology (adult) along with Epilepsy and/or Clinical Neurophysiology. Faculty rank is anticipated to be at the Associate Professor or Professor level, and the candidate must be eligible for medical licensure in Texas.
