Senior Accounting Specialist

Position Summary
This role is an integral part of our accounting department, focusing on various functions including fixed asset management and account reconciliation. The successful candidate will have a robust understanding of accrual accounting and fixed asset principles, enabling them to oversee the company's fixed assets, verify asset entries, and ensure the accuracy of monthly depreciation expenses.
The individual will maintain the fixed asset ledger and manage the accounting processes related to the acquisition, disposal, and transfer of fixed assets as necessary. Additionally, the candidate will prepare and update the fixed asset roll-forward schedule for different legal entities and address all audit inquiries concerning fixed assets.
Reporting Structure
This position reports to the Assistant Controller and involves recording journal entries, preparing reconciliations for various accounts, and conducting spot audits to evaluate the effectiveness of controls in significant processes. The ideal candidate should be collaborative yet capable of working independently, demonstrating the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of initiative, ownership, accuracy, and attention to detail in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage significant accounting accounts to ensure accurate journal entries.
- Ensure timely monthly closing of financial records in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Conduct accounting activities while adhering to accounting regulations and the company's policies.
- Collaborate closely with the Assistant Controller to reconcile accounts on a monthly or quarterly basis based on established risk profiles.
- Support the maintenance of a strong internal control system to enhance financial data transparency and operational efficiency.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly internal management reporting packages and other analytical tasks as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- CPA designation is preferred but not mandatory.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in accounting, particularly in fixed asset management.
- Familiarity with Sage Intacct ERP is advantageous.
- Proficient in MS Office applications, especially Excel and Word.
- Experience with Google Workspace is a plus.
- Strong analytical capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Flexibility and teamwork skills are essential.

- While executing the responsibilities of this role, the employee will frequently need to talk or hear. Regular activities include standing, walking, using hands for various tasks, and reaching with arms.
- Occasional requirements include sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee must frequently lift and move items up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision capabilities needed for this role include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
