Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Academic Intervention Specialist to join our team at Santa Cruz City Schools. As an Academic Intervention Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic success of our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reinforce instruction to individual or small groups of students in a classroom or assigned learning environment.
  • Tutor students in specific areas of reading intervention, language, math, and possibly in conjunction with a computer-based tutorial program.
  • Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and implementation of lesson plans.
  • Perform routine clerical and supportive tasks for instructional personnel.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Training and Experience:
    • Completion of the 12th grade or equivalent and two years' experience working with students.
    • College coursework in Psychology, elementary education, child growth and development may be substituted for experience.
  • ESSA (or NCLB) Compliance:
    • Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education or
    • Obtained an associate's or higher degree (college level) or
    • Take the Paraprofessional test and pass, which can be provided by Santa Cruz City Schools.
  • Required Documents:
    • Copy of Transcript (Copy of College Transcript)
    • Letter of Introduction
    • Resume

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00-12:00
