Position Overview:
The General Ledger Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting the Assistant Controllers with various accounting tasks, particularly focusing on the general ledger and inventory accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Accurately prepare and process journal entries across multiple accounts, ensuring comprehensive supporting documentation is maintained.
2. Conduct thorough reconciliations of general ledger accounts, accompanied by detailed supporting schedules.
3. Prepare monthly reconciliations of fuel inventory for refineries and terminals, including the generation of inventory certificates for different divisions.
4. Collaborate closely with the Inventory G/L Accountant to provide assistance on all inventory-related matters and cost of goods sold processes.
5. Execute monthly bank reconciliations and perform necessary research to assist colleagues and management with inquiries related to the general ledger.
6. Manage month-end and year-end closing tasks, which involve extracting, organizing, and analyzing data from various databases.
7. Generate weekly, monthly, and annual reports for regulatory bodies.

Additional Duties:
Provide support in daily accounting functions, which may include temporarily covering various accounting roles such as Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and front desk operations as needed.
Maintain confidentiality and work effectively with team members to meet departmental deadlines.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate's Degree in Accounting is preferred.
- Three to five years of relevant experience in data entry and reconciliation within a computerized accounting environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with various accounting software is essential.

Skills:
- Strong ability to maintain professional relationships and uphold confidentiality.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision while demonstrating analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in using basic office equipment, including computers and calculators.

Language and Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety guidelines and procedure manuals.
- Competence in writing routine reports and effectively communicating with groups.
