Job Overview:

The On-Site Air Separation Plant Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of oxygen and nitrogen producing plants in Augusta, GA.

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires technical expertise in process control, instrumentation, and electrical systems, as well as strong problem-solving and communication skills.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, able to work independently, and have a strong commitment to safety and quality.


Scope:

The employee in this role will be responsible for solving field site issues, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

The plant is located on a customer site, and the technician will be required to work with minimal supervision, making decisions that require coordination of interrelated tasks.

The role involves occasional travel to support locations outside the assigned area and may require assistance in training and development.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain all safety, quality, and compliance activities at each plant location.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibrations on process equipment, including centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, gas analyzers, electrical controls systems, and pneumatic control valves.
  • Manage own time to accomplish operations and maintenance tasks for assigned plants, including troubleshooting, diagnosing, and solving plant problems.
  • Coordinate contractors and resources, both internal and external to Praxair, to support plant activities, audits, and administrative requirements.
  • Maintain or improve plant efficiency.
  • Occasionally assist or direct the training and development of new employees.

Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will be required to perform a variety of physical tasks, including driving a service truck, walking on uneven surfaces, and lifting up to 75 pounds.

The role also requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with occasional overtime and on-call responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • High School Degree required
  • Associate's degree in a technical field preferred
  • Years of Operations experience highly desirable in fields such as Air separation, Instrumentation and control, General maintenance of industrial equipment, Compressors and compressor maintenance, Industrial Mechanical, Industrial Electrical or Electrician, Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC)
