Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sleep Study Technician is responsible for conducting comprehensive sleep studies. This role involves reviewing patient histories, including current medications, and ensuring the proper setup and calibration of sleep study equipment. The technician will monitor the sleep study, accurately document clinical and physiological occurrences, and score the results to generate detailed reports.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Conduct polysomnographic evaluations and ensure the accuracy of data collected.
  2. Review and assess patient records and medication histories.
  3. Set up and calibrate polysomnography equipment for optimal performance.
  4. Monitor and document significant clinical events during the sleep study.
  5. Score sleep studies and prepare comprehensive reports for review.
  6. Adhere to strict infection control protocols and maintain cleanliness of equipment.
  7. Collaborate with home health care services as necessary.
  8. Provide timely and accurate information to meet departmental needs.
  9. Engage in Quality Improvement initiatives as directed by management.
  10. Perform additional duties as assigned to support the department.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must possess certification as a respiratory therapy technician, registered respiratory therapist, or registered polysomnographic technologist (R.PSG.T.). A background in allied health or life sciences is advantageous. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers is mandatory.

WORK SCHEDULE:

This position requires availability for night shifts, specifically from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with a commitment of three 12-hour shifts per week, totaling 72 hours per bi-weekly pay period.
