As an Nuclear Innovation Intern, you will contribute to pioneering efforts that challenge the status quo, drive meaningful change, and help redefine nuclear energy project development. You will work closely with our Executive Director, Program Managers, and Analysts on project research, analysis, report writing, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement.

The ideal candidate has strong analysis and written communications skills, the ability to understand a technically complex field, and a desire to contribute to climate mitigation and energy security. Candidates with experience and familiarity with nuclear energy, nuclear energy policy, and government policy will be prioritized.

Key responsibilities include conducting research and performing analysis on advanced nuclear energy topics, assisting with stakeholder engagement, covering meetings, hearings, and events for NIA, tracking developments in nuclear energy policy, technology, and regulation, and providing administrative support for ongoing projects.

The Nuclear Innovation Intern will also have the opportunity to complete at least one research project on their own, which may focus on innovative licensing strategies for commercial nuclear reactors, modernizing Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulation of advanced reactors, or other related topics. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of the fundamentals of nuclear energy, interest in and enthusiasm for advanced nuclear power as a climate and energy security solution, and strong verbal and written communication skills.

We offer a competitive salary of $20/hour for 40 hours of work per week throughout the summer, with flexible start and end times. This is an office-based role located in Washington, DC.
