Float Patient Service Representative

As a Float Patient Service Representative at Upstate University Hospital, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical offices. Your responsibilities will include:
- Answering telephone calls and taking accurate messages
- Triage and handling calls, as well as rescheduling appointments
- Scheduling new patient and follow-up appointments
- Preparing charts and reviewing patient orders
- Ensuring medical records are returned to the proper location
- Receiving, screening, and reviewing documents for completeness and accuracy
- Verifying insurance eligibility and obtaining authorizations as needed
- Documenting patient information and maintaining accurate records
- Assisting with chart label preparation and patient database updates
- Preparing and sending written correspondence to patients
As a Float Patient Service Representative, you will be responsible for:
- Providing exceptional customer service to patients and staff
- Working effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records
- Communicating effectively with patients, staff, and physicians
- Adhering to departmental policies and procedures
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of clerical support experience, preferably in a medical setting
- Computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office applications
- Knowledge of EPIC or similar electronic health record systems
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
