Job Overview

Location: Lancaster, PA
Schedule: Full-time (36 hours weekly). Night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM, including rotating weekends and holidays.

Sign-On Incentive: Up to $15,000 (prorated based on FTE), with a commitment of 2 years. Eligibility criteria apply, including a minimum of 15 months of RN experience. External candidates only.

This dynamic 52-bed unit caters to both medical and surgical patients requiring short-term care. Patients typically have an expected discharge within hours. Common diagnoses in the Observation Unit include Chest Pain, Atrial Fibrillation, Hypertension, Pulmonary Embolism/Deep Vein Thrombosis, Abdominal Pain, Trauma, Transient Ischemic Attack/Stroke, Congestive Heart Failure, Asthma/COPD, Vertigo, and various metabolic disturbances.

Position Summary: The Clinical Nurse 1 New to Practice/Apprentice is tasked with delivering direct patient care across all age groups while collaborating closely with the interdisciplinary healthcare team. Completion of all Clinical Nurse 1 competencies is required, with advancement to Clinical Nurse 2 status expected within 18 months. CPR certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

  • Considers safety, effectiveness, and cost in the planning and delivery of nursing services.
Additional Responsibilities:

  • Completes mandatory training and maintains a safe working environment.
  • Seeks opportunities for professional development and skill enhancement.
Job Requirements:
  • Current RN licensure issued by the PA Board of Nursing.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or a higher-level nursing degree is required.
  • All Clinical Nurse 1 RNs must successfully complete the Nurse Residency Program.
  • Must maintain good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs.
Preferred Qualifications: As specified in the unit-based Plan for Provision of Care.
