POSITION OVERVIEW

In this role, under the guidance of the Production Supervisor and in collaboration with the Team Leader, you will safely execute a range of tasks to accurately assemble, fit, and join components in the manufacturing process of large mechanical products, adhering to specifications and production timelines while making independent decisions with minimal supervision, provided you have received appropriate instructions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize tools effectively to create or repair components and products.
  • Work alongside colleagues from various departments to assemble products efficiently.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations set by the company and industry standards.
  • Interpret documents such as diagrams, schematics, blueprints, or other written instructions accurately.
  • Detect any defective items and manage them according to established protocols.
Primary Duties
  • Clean and assemble component parts, machined elements, and subassemblies utilized in the production of concrete batch systems.
  • Employ various hand tools, pneumatic tools, hydraulic tools, and precision measuring instruments to complete the assembly of components.
  • Remove burrs and rough edges from parts using hand files, honing stones, or portable pneumatic grinders.
  • Operate overhead cranes and forklifts to transport parts and materials within the work area and to assemble large components.
  • Make minor adjustments, repairs, or setups to equipment or machines under supervision.
  • Conduct all job functions safely in accordance with plant safety standards and report any issues immediately to the Team Leader or Department Supervisor.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, which may include basic welding, cleaning, priming, and painting of components or assemblies.
Qualifications and Skills
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  • 0-2 years of experience in heavy equipment manufacturing is desirable.
  • Understanding of commonly used mechanical concepts, practices, and procedures is essential.
  • Relevant trade school or college coursework is a plus.
  • Ability to accurately use and interpret a tape measure and read job-related blueprints is required.
  • Proficient in reading drawings accurately.
  • Capable of operating overhead cranes and forklifts once certified by the company.
  • Basic computer skills are desired, particularly the ability to use a mouse and manage files.
  • Dependability and dedication to completing work assignments accurately and efficiently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to new challenges and situations.
  • Ability to work independently with reasonable instructions and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Effective communication skills to express needs and ask questions clearly.
  • Ability to follow detailed written and/or oral instructions competently.
  • Capacity to meet production standards and deadlines.
  • Willingness to accept constructive feedback and make necessary adjustments, including reworking tasks as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Manufacturing Setting

In a manufacturing environment, employees may encounter moving mechanical parts, machinery, tools, and equipment, as well as exposure to vibrations, fumes, airborne particles, motorized vehicles, welding, and machining operations. Conditions may vary, including exposure to dirt, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, and fluctuating temperatures. The noise level can be quite high, typical of an industrial assembly facility, and may necessitate hearing protection.
