Direct Support Professional

At Developmental Connections, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities to live fulfilling lives in their homes and communities.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide individualized support to persons served, promoting their independence and self-advocacy.
- Teach essential life skills, such as daily living tasks, communication, and social skills, to enable individuals to achieve their goals.
- Document progress and outcomes, ensuring accurate records of individual service plans.
- Contribute to a safe and healthy environment by maintaining facility safety practices, reporting incidents, and documenting daily logs.
- Facilitate connections and relationships in the community, promoting social inclusion and participation.
- Attend ISP meetings and Self-Government meetings, ensuring collaboration and coordination with the team.
- Guide individuals in making responsible choices, promoting autonomy and decision-making.
- Transport individuals as needed, ensuring safe and reliable transportation.
- Communicate effectively with the Program Coordinator, reporting issues and concerns related to ISP implementation.
- High school diploma or equivalent education level.
- 18 years or older.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid and other required training (Blood Borne Pathogens, Medication Administration, Systematic Instruction Strategies, Abuse/Neglect, HIPAA, Confidentiality, and Positive Behavior).
- Class E driver's License and ServSafe Certification (if required).
- Pass a 10-panel drug test and background check, including criminal record and driving record.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with exceptional teamwork and problem-solving abilities.
- Preferred: Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, and walking. Regularly required to talk or hear. Ability to use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds; this may be more with certain types of work assignments. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Salary Description:DOE $16. - $17 per hour
