Behavioral Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) to join our team at the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD). As an RBT, you will play a critical role in supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other behavioral needs in a variety of settings, including classrooms and community environments.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of Individualized Behavior Plans (IBPs) for students with behavioral needs.
- Work under the direct supervision of SFUSD administrators to provide behavioral support and interventions to students in a variety of settings.
- Attend student progress meetings and collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other support staff to ensure student success.
- Provide physical care and hygiene support to students as needed.
- Implement de-escalation strategies and physical restraints as necessary to ensure student safety.
- High School Diploma or equivalent and one of the following: Associate of Arts Degree or higher, 48 college units, or passing of CBEST/CODESP examination.
- Minimum two years of experience working in an educational environment or 1:1 setting with students on the Autism spectrum and/or with significant behavioral needs.
- Ability to follow safety precaution guidelines and procedures, and make judgment calls during a crisis.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including tact, patience, firmness, compassion, courtesy, and consistency.
- Ability to collect and monitor data in a systematic manner using available tools.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Ability to adhere to organizational policies and procedures, and abide by the code of ethics as indicated by the Behavioral Analysis Certification Board.
