Job Title: Behavioral Support Specialist

Alpha Public Schools is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Behavioral Support Specialist to join our team. As a Behavioral Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting students with behavioral challenges and providing a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Familiarize yourself with students' behavior habits and known antecedents to provide proactive coaching and support
  • Support class teams in implementing individual and classroom behavior structures, addressing off-task behaviors and acts of defiance
  • Provide in-the-moment behavior support and coaching, and respond to crisis behavior as necessary
  • Remove students for check-ins/resets
  • Analyze data and conduct assessments to track student progress on IEP goals and assist Education specialists in the completion of quarterly progress reports

Requirements:
  • AA Degree required (BA preferred)
    • OR completion of two years of college, not a degree but 72 quarter hours or 48 semester hours of college credit
    • OR a passing score on the Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment Test
  • High behavioral expectations and academic expectations for all students
  • Excellent knowledge of child development and educational practices
  • Experience working with students and classroom management
  • Willingness to be flexible with your schedule
  • A commitment to working with students in traditionally underserved communities
