As a Pre-K Teacher at Uncommon Schools, you will inspire a passion for learning in young students. Our classrooms are designed to be engaging, intentional, and playful, promoting curiosity and respect. You will work collaboratively with a teaching partner to create a nurturing environment that celebrates each child's uniqueness while laying the groundwork for future academic success.
Key ResponsibilitiesInstructional Duties
- Implement a rotating schedule to deliver both music and Spanish instruction to two Pre-K cohorts.
- Develop a curriculum that aligns with general education thematic units.
- Collaborate with leadership to establish a performance schedule.
Assessment and Intervention
- Engage in weekly meetings with your director to review student work and assessment trends.
- Adopt and apply strategies to tailor instruction for diverse learners.
Classroom Environment
- Apply the instructional model and partner with the instructional coach/director to ensure students meet academic and performance benchmarks.
- Utilize various data sources to inform daily instructional decisions.
- Foster positive early-learning experiences that enhance children's feelings about school and their communities.
- Support holistic development across social-emotional, physical, cognitive, and academic domains.
- Employ diverse strategies to facilitate both concept and skill acquisition.
- Model and support language development throughout the school day.
Community and Support
- Assist with classroom coverage as necessary.
- Build strong relationships with students to ensure they feel valued and understood.
- Collaborate with families to provide resources that support student learning.
- Participate in professional development and mentorship opportunities.
- Engage in school-wide activities to promote community and student achievement.
- Work with your teaching partner and grade-level team to set academic goals and refine instructional practices.

- Strong background in early childhood education.
- Experience in music or performing arts.
- Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required prior to employment. Certification is not mandatory at the time of hiring, but candidates must meet state certification eligibility requirements.
