Position Overview: This role is integral to the effective functioning of the department. The individual will be expected to undertake additional job-related responsibilities and tasks throughout the organization as required. Employees in this position engage in both routine and advanced technical duties in Preventative Maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing components within building automation systems, including field cabinets, sensors, and associated controls. Typically, they operate under the guidance of the Service Manager and are expected to uphold all responsibilities and attributes of junior technicians. Candidates for this role should possess a minimum of 8 years of relevant industry experience.

Key Responsibilities: To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, an individual must be able to meet the following responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Diagnose and repair building automation system field cabinets and all peripheral devices.
  • Conduct Preventative Maintenance tasks in accordance with departmental standards while assisting junior technicians in maintaining these standards.
  • Diagnose and repair end devices, configure modules, and troubleshoot network-related issues.
  • Participate in site meetings as necessary.
  • Provide necessary information to assess labor requirements, costs, and overall service contract performance.
  • Maintain positive relationships with clients and contractors.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of various protocols that may be integrated into the building automation system.
  • Make complex programming and graphic modifications to meet specifications, sequences, and/or customer requests.
  • Understand scopes of work and interpret project specifications.
  • Communicate technical issues effectively to management and project managers.
  • Document any database changes made at service contract sites and ensure information is accessible to all employees for future reference and pricing.
  • Arrive at work punctually and prepared to perform assigned tasks.
  • Maintain company tools, testing equipment, and materials.
  • Perform necessary database tasks such as backups, troubleshooting, and exporting files.
  • Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of the company's building automation software suite and its add-ons.
  • Generate detailed daily service reports for submission to the Service Manager on a weekly basis.
  • Serve as a role model for junior technicians, providing training and repair support as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to advance project progress.
  • Collaborate with job site personnel to achieve objectives.
  • Engage in solutions-based discussions with clients and project stakeholders both within and outside the organization.
  • Work with service contract customers to deliver advanced DDC solutions, energy-saving recommendations, and building controls expansion that lead to future projects.
  • Foster a performance-oriented culture, both at the team and individual levels, to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with the company's vision, mission, and objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all quality and safety standards, specifications, and policies, driving continuous improvements and collaborating with the team to enhance efficiencies.
  • Support a culture of open and honest dialogue, valuing the input and engagement of all team members in improving performance.
  • Promote a culture of high performance and accountability regarding employee and site safety, as well as other business aspects.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of journeyman-level experience and certification in one or more building trades; High school diploma or GED; supplemented by vocational/technical training in general construction (carpentry), plumbing, wiring, HVAC, etc.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in the field or related area that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for the role.
  • Demonstrated self-starter attitude, inquisitiveness, intuition, and a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Ability to document daily tasks and plan for assigned responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with the Automated Logic hardware product line and network architecture is essential.
  • Commitment to an open-door policy and comfort with engaging with all field employees.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on high-quality document and report preparation.
  • Experience in an entrepreneurial environment that requires strong multitasking abilities.

Compensation: $38-$53/hr. DOE.
