Job Title: Surgical Operations Specialist
Job Summary:
The Surgical Operations Specialist will assist in orthopedic and neurosurgical procedures, ensuring a sterile environment and efficient workflow in the operating room. The ideal candidate will have experience in these specialties and a strong commitment to patient safety and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field during orthopedic and neurosurgical surgeries.
- Assist surgeons and surgical staff by providing instruments, sutures, and supplies during procedures.
- Ensure all necessary equipment is prepared and functioning properly before surgeries, including orthopedic implants and neurosurgical instruments.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to monitor patient vital signs and assist with patient positioning.
- Sterilize and organize instruments and equipment according to established protocols.
- Maintain accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments throughout procedures to prevent retained surgical items.
- Participate in inventory management, including ordering and restocking supplies specific to orthopedic and neurosurgery.
- Adhere to safety protocols and assist in maintaining a clean and organized operating room.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience required.
- Ortho and/or Neurosurgery experience required.
- Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, techniques, and safety procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations.
Education/Training/Certifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent; completion of a surgical technology program is preferred.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) is highly desirable.
Additional Requirements:
- Schedule notes: 7:00 am -5:30 pm or 9:00 am -7:30 pm. Holidays, weekends/off-shifts as needed. Possible on-call rotation.
