As a key member of the finance team, the Staff Accountant is responsible for ensuring that consolidated financial data is accurately recorded within the general ledger system. The Staff Accountant will oversee all accounting functions related to the FSD Producer Owned Reinsurance Companies (PORC). The individual in this position typically operates with minimal supervision on routine tasks and receives general guidance for new projects.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Devote significant time to understanding insurance accounting, organizational structure, and systems.
  • Assist in the preparation of disclosures, annual financial statements, and analytical reports.
  • Conduct account reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
  • Generate various reports for PORC in compliance with established regulations.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations to maintain financial integrity.
  • Engage with financial institutions to reconcile custodial funds, request ceding deficits, and ensure deposits follow prescribed procedures.
  • Support the closing process and the preparation of financial statements.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
  • Proficiency in MS 365 suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical capabilities.
  • Experience with financial systems operations.
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related discipline.
  • Experience in insurance accounting is preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of relevant experience.
