Overview:

As a CNC Machine Operator II, you will play a crucial role in the production of high-quality machined components for the aerospace industry. Your expertise will be essential in following detailed Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS), and various manufacturing directives to ensure excellence in our output.


Key Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Operating multiple CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, and Manual/Vertical Mills.
  • Conducting inspections and approvals of your work and that of your colleagues using Piper inspection certifications.
  • Assisting in identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions for nonconforming materials to minimize defects and waste.
  • Contributing to the enhancement of Machine Shop performance through cost-saving initiatives, including tooling enhancements and setup time reductions.
  • Sharing knowledge and mentoring teammates to foster a collaborative and effective work environment.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards, including FOD and Tool Control.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a CNC Machine Operator program or a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience requirements: 2-5 years for CNC Machine Operator II.
  • The ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools as necessary.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Physical and Mental Demands:

This position requires:

  • The ability to perform a full range of motion for various tasks.
  • Visual and auditory acuity, along with manual dexterity for operating specialized equipment.
  • The capacity to endure prolonged periods of sitting, standing, or walking, and to lift and carry up to 35 lbs.
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Working Environment:

Work primarily occurs indoors, with occasional outdoor tasks. You may encounter various environmental factors, including odors, dust, and temperature fluctuations. Regular interaction with team members and occasional engagement with external stakeholders is expected.
