About the Role

This is an exceptional opportunity to join Northwestern Memorial Healthcare as a Senior Operations Coordinator for Anatomic Pathology. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the smooth operation of our Gross Room(s) and Autopsy Services.

Job Description

The Senior Operations Coordinator reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory standards.

Main Responsibilities
  • Section Coordination: Reviews and verifies specimen integrity, quality control records/logs, and quality assurance parameters are maintained. Coordinates and monitors corrective action.
  • Develops Standard Operating Procedures: Maintains document control, ensures compliance with federal, state, local, JCAHO, CAP, multi-disciplinary, hospital regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Laboratory Information System (LIS): Participates in planning and maintenance of LIS, assures that all computer systems-related changes are appropriately planned, well-documented, and receive documented approval at all steps.
  • Patient, Technical, and Workflow Problems: Investigates and resolves patient, technical, and workflow problems related to the Gross Room(s) and Autopsy Services.
  • Relationship Development: Develops and maintains relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Service Standards: Assures that service standards are implemented and evaluated.
  • Multidisciplinary Approach: Facilitates a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach to patient care and interdepartmental problem-solving/service delivery.
  • Education and Training: Instructs Pathologists' Assistants, Surgical Pathology Technologists, and Technicians, and Autopsy Technicians on new methods and instrumentation. Develops curriculum and oversees education and training of residents and staff in conjunction with the Medical Director.
Required Qualifications
  • General Supervisor Certification: Must qualify as a General Supervisor as defined in CLIA 88 regulations.
  • Master's Degree: Master's degree in applicable discipline.
  • PA-Certification: PA-certified through recognized Board of Registry, ASCP, or equivalent.
