Job Description

Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant Opportunity

Mercy Medical Center Redding is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Physician Assistant to join our Cardiothoracic Surgery team. As a Physician Assistant in this role, you will work closely with our cardiothoracic surgeons to provide high-quality patient care and support.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive and problem-focused history and physical exams

• Diagnose and treat common conditions and provide follow-up care within the scope of practice

• Order, collect, perform, and interpret appropriate laboratory or diagnostic procedures and studies

• Exercise judgment on problems requiring consultation, referral, or evaluation by the supervising physician or other healthcare professionals

• Order, prescribe, and administer medications according to California State Law

• Provide documentation according to department standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree from an accredited PA Program approved by the California Board of Medical Examiners

• At the time of hire, licensed as a Physician Assistant in the State of California

• Current BLS for Health Care Providers and ACLS certifications

• Experience with endoscopic vessel harvesting (EVH)

• Experience in cardiothoracic surgery (first and second assisting, opening and closing, suturing surgical wounds, & wound care)

• Experience in critical care (ICU) management - advanced understanding in pleurovac and chest tube management

• Experience in performing invasive procedures (including but not limited to central vascular access, Swan Ganz insertion, dialysis catheter insertion, IABP insertion, chest tube insertion, thoracentesis)

• Experience with endoscopic radial artery harvesting (ERAH)

• Experience with Thoracic Robotic First Assistant
