The Office of the Chief Marketing & Sales Strategy Officer is in search of a Business Consultant tasked with overseeing and executing risk mitigation initiatives within the Marketing domain, in collaboration with the Front Line Management (FRM) Team.

Reporting directly to the Chief of Staff for the Chief Marketing and Sales Strategy Officer, this position demands exceptional leadership and project management skills, with a proven track record of managing multiple projects and meeting critical deadlines across various teams.

The ideal candidate should possess a solid understanding of Marketing operations to identify and escalate risks linked to Marketing activities, ensuring the consistent application of first-line risk management across the Marketing organization.

This individual will support the FRM team in promoting awareness, accountability, and a culture of risk management throughout the organization.


Responsibilities:
Business Strategy

  • Assess current strategies, processes, and requirements to pinpoint elements adversely impacting the business unit. Formulate expert strategies and solutions to tackle identified challenges, coordinating business efforts to achieve success. Collaborate with managers across Marketing to address risk-related issues as necessary. Work alongside the FRM team to foster risk awareness, accountability, and a culture of risk management throughout all Marketing areas.
Governance & Execution

  • Collaborate with FRM, Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal, IT, Privacy, and other stakeholders to identify risks, uphold compliance standards, and mitigate risks both domestically and internationally. Organize support for control testing and issue management. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and controls in a timely manner to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and risk management standards. Oversee the Marketing risk identification and remediation program for self-identified, internal, and external issues, adhering to corporate tools and methodologies. Ensure compliance with testing schedules to measure adherence to policies, procedures, and controls. Support process/control owners in maintaining necessary compliance documentation and internal control practices. Ensure that risk issues and corresponding action items are effectively tracked, resolved, and documented. Integrate risk management processes into policies, operating procedures, and standards.
Leadership

  • Facilitate cross-functional teams, lead project meetings, develop and maintain project plans, and manage/support solution implementations. Spearhead special projects, serving as a resource to the broader business unit or organization. Utilize expertise to provide guidance, feedback, and direction on complex matters. Assist in communicating performance results and expected behaviors. Act as the Business Continuity Plan Manager for the team, ensuring that plans are up-to-date and exercises are conducted as required.
Data Analysis

Source, compile, and interpret data. Conduct complex data analysis, effectively communicating and directing analysis outcomes. Supervise the execution of risk assessments in partnership with FRM.

Oversee the translation of compliance risks into business requirements and assist in developing mitigation strategies and processes/workflows within Marketing to perform control monitoring (tracking of client endorsements, monthly testing of subscription centers, etc.).


Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience in Business Strategy, Project Planning, and the Financial Services industry

OR High School Diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in Business Strategy, Project Planning, and the Financial Services industry

Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years of relevant marketing and/or risk management experience
Familiarity with First Citizens Bank marketing procedures
Experience in risk management within the banking sector
Ability to anticipate and proactively mitigate risks
Demonstrated project management skills with the capacity to motivate teams and drive performance
Experience in preparing and delivering executive-level presentations
Strong interpersonal skills with a history of effective collaboration across large, complex organizations, including adept influencing skills and a proactive approach to building consensus among diverse groups
Master's degree preferred
