OVERVIEW
Responsible for managing the daily functions of the Processing Department on a shift basis. This role involves overseeing and coordinating the activities within the Processing Department to ensure the delivery of high-quality products to the Packaging line efficiently and safely.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Leading the plant's SQF certification initiatives.
  • Evaluating the quality and productivity of the mixing operations.
  • Possessing a solid understanding of various types of processing equipment with differing levels of automation.
  • Documenting performance metrics for Processing and Process Mixer operations.
  • Maintaining effective communication with Quality Control, Research & Development, Packaging, and Sanitation teams.
  • Preparing raw materials for processing activities.
  • Exhibiting strong mathematical, verbal, and written communication skills along with analytical abilities.
  • Collaborating with manufacturing teams to optimize schedules while adhering to processing protocols.
  • Supporting R&D in the development of new products and enhancements to existing offerings.
  • Ensuring compliance with SQF standards and quality benchmarks established by the Quality Control Department.
  • Directly supervising a team of over 30 employees.
  • Executing supervisory duties such as interviewing, hiring, and training staff, as well as addressing employee concerns.
  • Understanding and following process control instructions and formula recipes, including necessary documentation.
  • Accountable for product quality, ensuring the correct quantities of high-quality raw materials are utilized.
  • Adhering to and enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Coordinating with Production staff to ensure smooth transitions to packaging lines.
  • Assisting in the cleaning, maintenance, and inventory management of raw material storage areas.
  • Ensuring adherence to corporate standards for food safety, quality, and facility cleanliness.
  • Fostering a culture of safety that begins with management accountability for a safe work environment.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
FOOD SAFETY DUTIES
  • Setting an example to ensure adherence to the highest quality manufacturing practices.
  • Ensuring team compliance with all food safety and GMP policies.
  • Guaranteeing that all tasks are completed in a safe and sanitary manner.
  • Ensuring team members produce products free from contamination.
  • Encouraging team members to report any suspicious activities within the facility.
  • Instructing team members to continuously inspect work areas for potential contamination issues.
SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS
Directly oversees a team of 15-25 employees in the Food Service and Retail Kitchens. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining staff; addressing complaints; and resolving issues.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Language Proficiency
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operating instructions, and procedural manuals. Ability to compose routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Mathematical Proficiency
Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and to interpret graphical data.

Analytical Skills
Ability to solve practical problems and address various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret diverse instructions provided in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule formats.
