Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of project managers and civil engineers to meet operational objectives.
- Identify and assess prospective projects that could enhance company performance.
- Conduct thorough constructability evaluations of project documentation and provide actionable recommendations.
- Guide the development of construction procurement documents, including plans, through consultation and feedback.
- Oversee daily project activities during construction phases, ensuring coordination and providing status updates.
- Engage in collaborative sessions with agencies and organizations to gather performance feedback and strengthen industry relationships.
- Assist in project procurement utilizing various delivery methods, including Design/Bid/Build, Design/Build, and innovative project delivery strategies.
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries to maintain project timelines.
- Deliver regular, detailed reports on project metrics, resource allocation, and completion statistics, along with forecasts for future requirements.
- Monitor project progress to ensure adherence to timelines and budgetary constraints.
- Evaluate and recommend actions on potential Change Orders, providing comprehensive analyses of budget and schedule impacts.
- Continuously review project schedules and construction progress, offering insights to company leadership.
- Facilitate and participate in project meetings with contractors, consultants, and external agencies to ensure project objectives are met.
- Communicate project-related challenges, scope alterations, and variances to leadership, fostering amicable resolutions.
- Engage effectively with project partners, stakeholders, and the general public.
- Resolve disputes among contractors, engineering consultants, and other parties, taking a leadership role in conflict resolution.
- Ensure efficient coordination between the company and clients regarding project invoicing.
- Consult and communicate with the project management team on relevant project matters.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to industry organizations as needed.
- Manage project budgets with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness.
- Perform additional job-related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; relevant experience may substitute for degree.
- Registered Professional Engineer or State Civil Engineer in the relevant jurisdiction.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the highway or related industry, with at least 8 years in construction management for highway projects.
- At least 3 years of experience in a managerial capacity within project management.
- Strong leadership skills to effectively coordinate with the project management team.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Strategic and technically proficient in approach.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with project management software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience managing large-scale, multi-million-dollar projects.
- Familiarity with innovative project delivery methods, such as Design-Build or public-private partnerships.
