POSITION SUMMARY:

The Food Service Associate II reports to the Manager of Food Services. This role encompasses a diverse range of responsibilities aimed at delivering high-quality, sanitary food service to patients and customers.

The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Stocking of supplies
  • Delivery and collection of patient food trays
  • Assembly of patient trays
  • Portioning and packaging of food items
  • Preparation of hot and cold food items for daily service
  • Snack and nourishment preparation
  • Assisting in meal packaging for meal delivery services
  • Customer service and cashiering duties
  • Processing dishes in the dish room
  • Maintaining cleanliness in the cafeteria and kitchen areas

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Annual mandatory education is required as well as participation in departmental training provided by management.

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of two years of experience in food service is preferred.

COMPETENCIES: Candidates must possess English reading and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with co-workers, patients, and care providers. The ability to write and follow written instructions in English is essential. Basic math skills, such as addition and subtraction, are required. Strong organizational and time management skills are highly valued.

Applicants must be capable of efficiently operating a cash register and consistently demonstrate positive interpersonal relations with co-workers while maintaining a strong customer service attitude.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Attend monthly department meetings.
  2. Participate in monthly departmental in-services.
  3. Adhere to uniform policies, including appropriate hair covering.
  4. Follow serve-safe and state regulatory requirements for handwashing and glove usage.
  5. Complete all necessary paperwork related to the position.
  6. Exhibit a willingness to assist co-workers and adapt daily work routines to departmental needs.
  7. Set up, restock, and maintain a clean work station in compliance with sanitation and safety standards.
  8. Complete tasks as outlined in the job flow within scheduled shift times.
  9. Deliver trays to patients following all facility and departmental protocols.
  10. Complete annual food safety training.
  11. Demonstrate knowledge of basic modified diets.
  12. Balance and perform cash-out processes according to established procedures.
  13. Complete mandatory education in a timely manner.
  14. Utilize personal protective equipment as required.
