As an Anesthesia Care Specialist, you will engage in a variety of challenging cases, particularly within our high-volume and high-risk obstetrics department.

We promote a collaborative atmosphere where Anesthesiologist Assistants, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), and Medical Doctors (MDs) work together, sharing responsibilities and valuing each other's expertise. Our CRNAs are encouraged to take part in committees and contribute to quality improvement projects.

Flexible scheduling options are available, with most CRNAs working either four 10-hour shifts or a mix of two 8-hour shifts and two 12-hour shifts weekly. We strive to accommodate individual scheduling preferences in alignment with the organization's requirements. Weekend on-call duties may occur occasionally, typically requiring an 8-hour shift every 4-5 weeks.

As an Anesthesia Care Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Collecting comprehensive patient histories and conducting relevant physical examinations.
  • Discussing findings and anesthetic strategies with the supervising anesthesiologist prior to anesthesia induction.
  • Reviewing patient conditions with the anesthesiologist immediately before administering anesthesia.
  • Pretesting and calibrating anesthesia delivery systems.
  • Administering blood products and supportive fluids as needed.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited institution recognized by the board of regents.

Certifications Required:

  • Certification from the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants.
  • A current, valid certificate of registration.
  • A written practice protocol in accordance with relevant regulations.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) are mandatory.

Work Complexity:

  • This role requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to operate with minimal supervision.
  • Candidates must be capable of functioning in a high-pressure environment and responding appropriately to emergencies.

Experience:

  • No prior experience is required.

Physical Demands:

  • Must possess full body mobility, including the ability to lift and handle patients, along with manual dexterity and coordination.
  • Requires prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and must be able to maneuver supply carts weighing up to 200 pounds.
  • Vision and hearing must be corrected to normal ranges.
  • Must be able to work under stressful conditions and during irregular hours.
  • Some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids may occur.

  • Adhere to Standard Precautions and utilize personal protective equipment as required for various procedures.
