Anesthesia Technician Job Description

Cleveland Clinic is seeking a skilled Anesthesia Technician to join our team. As an Anesthesia Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the anesthesiologist and other anesthesiology personnel. Your responsibilities will include managing and maintaining equipment used by anesthesiologists, sterilizing and cleaning equipment, and troubleshooting issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stock and maintain anesthesia carts and surgical suites with required supplies
  • Assist with difficult airway management and equipment needs
  • Deliver blood samples to the lab and retrieve blood products
  • Disassemble, decontaminate, and sterilize anesthesia equipment and supplies
  • Perform Point of Care (POCT) testing procedures
  • Communicate effectively with anesthesia and operating room staff
  • Transport anesthesia equipment and supplies to and from outside of Operating Rooms
  • Maintain accurate records and check the status of orders and equipment
  • Maintain anesthesia supplies and equipment

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA)
  • One year experience working in a healthcare setting or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Physical Requirements:

  • Extended periods of walking, standing, lifting, and carrying equipment
  • Capable of pushing and maneuvering equipment weighing up to 150 pounds
