Job Summary

The Monitor I role at Turning Point of Central California, Inc. is a vital position that contributes to a supportive and safe recovery environment. As a Monitor I, you will be responsible for maintaining client safety and supporting client recovery by providing guidance on program expectations and available resources in a residential program for Substance Use Disorder treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide constant and vigilant supervision and monitoring of all residents.
  2. Monitor resident compliance with program guidelines, rules, schedules, and chore assignments.
  3. Be professional, attentive, and responsive to calls, emails, or individuals entering and exiting the facility and maintain accurate records of resident arrivals and departures.
  4. Conduct and document frequent rounds and checks of all areas occupied by residents, including the facility perimeter, to observe behavior, confirm resident count, check on residents' well-being, and identify maintenance, safety, or security issues.
  5. Generate timely, accurate, and detailed records of resident incidents, interactions, behavior, progress, risks, or potential concerns.
  6. Act as a resource for residents, offering guidance on program expectations and available community resources to support residents throughout their treatment and recovery.
  7. Communicate, share insights, collaborate, and work closely with other team members to provide updates on residents to ensure supervision is coordinated and effective.
  8. Maintain confidentiality, respect the confidential nature of conversations with residents, and adhere to professional ethics and legal guidelines.
  9. Develop and maintain respectful and empathetic professional relationships and establish and maintain clear professional boundaries.
  10. Use active listening techniques to understand resident's needs and respond appropriately.
  11. Remain flexible and adaptable to changes in workload and assignments.
  12. Administer urine or oral swab specimen collection tests for resident drug screens and process specimens using approved procedures.
  13. Conduct routine resident security screening and searches, including personal property, rooms, vehicles, and body scans.
  14. Monitor the video surveillance system.
  15. Will drive on agency business, including transporting residents in a company vehicle.
  16. Provide clerical support with ordering supplies, filing, and other general office duties as needed.
  17. Conduct inspections of the company vehicle to maintain operational safety standards, complete vehicle reports, and address any vehicle maintenance or repair needs.
  18. Assist with client intakes and orientation for new clients, including a tour of the facility, review of the resident guidelines, services, activities, group schedule, and completion of intake forms.
  19. Respond quickly and efficiently in emergencies.
Requirements
  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. Two (2) years of experience in a monitor position or working in a Substance Use Disorder Residential Treatment Facility or equivalent education in substance use disorder treatment or a related field is preferred.
  3. Ability to work with individuals and staff members of diverse cultural backgrounds.
  4. Ability to read and write in English at a level sufficient to successfully perform required duties.
  5. Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  6. Current CPR/First Aid Certification is preferred.
  7. Physical presence at the worksite is required.
  8. Ability to generate timely, legibly, accurate, and appropriate documentation of communications, behaviors, and routine facility events as they occur.
  9. Ability to make informed and ethical decisions in complex and sensitive situations.
  10. Must maintain good relationships with current, future, and past employees, co-workers, vendors, third-party administrators, and others with whom the Agency is transacting business and relate to them in a professional manner.
  11. Ability to operate modern office equipment, including computer equipment and specialized software applications and programs.
  12. Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Office 365, Teams, Zoom, and other communication/meeting platforms.
  13. Must complete at least 20 hours of assigned training on an annual basis.
  14. Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a dependable means of transportation that is properly insured and operated in accordance with all laws throughout the course of employment in this position. Agency insurer authorization is required.
  15. Pass a criminal background check and maintain compliance with program requirements.
  16. Pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, general physical, and TB test; maintain compliance with program requirements as related to TB testing and organizational policies related to substance use.
