Job Summary

The Veteran Service Assistant - Residential Support will provide daily support to veterans in a residential setting, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with residential staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the delivery of basic services, including shelter, food, and hygiene, to veterans in the facility.
  • Maintain a harmonious atmosphere by communicating effectively with clinical staff and promoting a therapeutic community environment.
  • Assist with the delivery and handling of client mail.
  • Support clients with move-in and move-out processes.
  • Prevent or de-escalate verbal and physical altercations, submitting incident reports as necessary.
  • Address client issues in a timely manner to ensure uninterrupted services.
  • Convey needs to the Veteran Service Coordinator or Lead Veterans Service Assistant to maintain supply inventory and ensure proper storage.
  • Assist with facility maintenance and upkeep, ensuring readiness for inspections.
  • Implement toxicology testing to promote a sober environment.
  • Implement safety and emergency procedures.
  • Assist with bed checks, inspections, and documentation of client activities.
  • Perform various administrative duties, including documentation and record-keeping.
  • Facilitate daily living activities for clients.
  • Adhere to site work order procedures.
  • Assist with weekly cleaning of client rooms and common areas.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with similar populations or relevant experience preferred.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with residential staff.
  • Must promote a client-centered philosophy and be skilled in creating/maintaining a sober environment.
  • Must be energetic, dedicated to the mission, and flexible.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
