Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Controls Engineer to join our team at Sterling Engineering Inc. in Detroit, MI. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining control systems that drive our manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Create and implement PLC programs using Allen Bradley systems to optimize manufacturing processes and improve efficiency.
  • Troubleshooting and Resolution: Identify and resolve issues related to PLC programming to ensure smooth operations and minimize downtime.
  • HMI Application Development: Design and implement HMI applications to interface with control systems, providing a user-friendly interface for operators.
  • Testing and Validation: Conduct thorough testing and validation of control systems to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including maintenance and production staff, to optimize manufacturing processes and improve efficiency.
  • Technical Support and Training: Provide technical support and training to maintenance and production staff on control systems, ensuring they have the necessary skills to operate and maintain the systems.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance, reduce downtime, and improve overall efficiency.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in controls engineering, specifically with PLC programming.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Allen Bradley PLC systems, HMI development, and implementation.
