Job Summary:
The Sous Chef is a key member of the culinary team at Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana, responsible for overseeing food preparation on all shifts to ensure quality food and guest satisfaction. This role requires strong leadership and coordination skills to work effectively with front-of-house staff and achieve the casino's food service goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creates a positive dining experience for guests by ensuring high-quality food and exceptional service.
- Hires, trains, and supervises staff to maintain a well-organized and efficient kitchen environment.
- Develops and implements training programs to enhance staff skills and knowledge.
- Monitors food purchasing, staffing, and inventory to control costs and maintain quality standards.
- Ensures compliance with health and safety regulations and maintains a clean and safe working environment.
- Collaborates with the Room Chef to develop menu changes and improve food quality.
- Assists with scheduling and staff management to meet business needs.
- Attends meetings and completes follow-up tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
- Minimum 8 years of progressive food preparation experience or a culinary arts degree and 4 years of experience with at least 1 year in a supervisory capacity.
- Must obtain and maintain all necessary licenses and certifications.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
- Must be at least 21 years old and able to work flexible shifts, including holidays and weekends.
