Position Overview:
The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver outdoor maintenance support to clients of the Commission on Aging. This includes tasks such as lawn care, snow removal, leaf collection, and exterior window cleaning.

Teamwork is essential, and employees are expected to collaborate effectively to achieve team objectives. All employees must meet the minimum qualifications and be capable of performing essential duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations.

The work schedule may vary based on weather conditions, seasonal changes, and the specific needs of clients requesting services. Employees may also need to travel using their personal vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute a variety of manual tasks to assist clients in maintaining their homes and yards, which may include:
  • Mowing lawns, blowing and raking leaves, trimming weeds, and clearing debris.
  • Removing snow and clearing pathways and driveways using shovels, snow blowers, or snowplows.
  • Cleaning windows.
  • Repairing and replacing mailboxes and posts.
  • Conducting basic maintenance on vehicles and equipment used for these tasks.
  • Engaging with clients, performing basic assessments of their situations, and reporting any unusual or potentially harmful conditions to a supervisor.
  • Maintaining accurate records of client services and related information.
  • Utilizing mobile devices and applications to track schedules and completed tasks.
  • Participating in staff meetings, training sessions, and other relevant gatherings.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. is preferred but not mandatory.
  • At least one year of experience in yard work, snow removal, or similar tasks is required. Experience working with senior citizens is preferred but not essential.
Certifications:
  • A valid driver's license and personal vehicle insurance are required, along with maintaining eligibility to drive as per the County's Vehicle policy.
  • CPR Certification is necessary.
Employment Conditions:
A background check may be required for individuals hired, transferred, or promoted in this position. Continued employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check, which may include identity verification, criminal record review, educational verification, and other assessments as required by law.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as balancing, reaching, sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
  • Regular outdoor work with exposure to various weather conditions.
  • Potential exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, or airborne particles.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Basic English proficiency for effective communication with clients and colleagues.
  • Interpersonal skills to work courteously and effectively with others.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of older adults.
  • Ability to operate necessary equipment safely and effectively.
  • Capability to perform manual labor tasks independently.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Sound judgment to identify unusual or emergency situations and respond appropriately.
  • Efficient use of County resources.
Compensation:
Starting Hourly Rate: $16.55 USD
