About the Role

The Nature Conservancy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Development and Global Protection to lead our global development efforts for the Global Protect program. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to secure significant financial resources in support of our global conservation goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a global development strategy to secure $10 million in annual gifts and pledges for the Global Protect program.
  • Lead a team of development professionals to identify, cultivate, and solicit major donors and foundations to support Global Protect priorities.
  • Collaborate with Global Protect leadership and other TNC leaders to develop and communicate a development vision and fundraising plan that aligns with TNC's global campaign and multi-year fundraising goals.
  • Manage a portfolio of prospective donors and develop relationships with key stakeholders, including senior management, internal teams, donors, investors, and volunteers.
  • Work closely with the Global Priorities Development Team and other development colleagues to grow the donor prospect pipeline and identify new opportunities for support.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan, including individualized cultivation, solicitation, and recognition strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate fundraising progress, making adjustments as needed to achieve goals.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and 8 years of related experience in fundraising, development, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining long-term relationships with major donors and foundations.
  • Experience in managing and tracking multiple prospects and donors, with a focus on securing significant gifts and pledges.
  • Strong understanding of charitable giving principles and practices, including capital campaigns, major gifts, and planned giving.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including senior management, donors, and volunteers.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on collaboration and partnership-building.
