We are seeking an experienced Sustainability Design Engineer to join our leadership team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving sustainability initiatives from project conception through completion. Your deep understanding of building science and functional knowledge of energy modeling and building controls will ensure that all projects meet the highest standards of technical excellence while achieving client-specific energy and sustainability goals.Salary:
The estimated annual salary for this position is $145,750-$175,100, based on industry standards and location. This competitive compensation package reflects our commitment to attracting top talent in the field of sustainability engineering.Job Description:
This is an exceptional opportunity to harness your expertise in HVAC design optimization, energy modeling, and decarbonization analysis to drive sustainable design practices within our organization. You will work closely with our project teams, including individual discipline leads, architects, owners, and other stakeholders to guide the energy and sustainability aspects of design.
- Technical leadership in HVAC design optimization, energy modeling, and decarbonization analysis
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies or design strategies and deliver innovative solutions to client energy goals
- Support a team of energy modeling experts and building energy auditors following ASHRAE standards - lifecycle cost and economic viability analysis
- Understand sustainability certification programs such as LEED, Living Building Challenge, and Passive House
- Analyze local, state, and federal ordinances (Boston's Building Emissions Reductions and Disclosure, New York City's Local Law 97)
- Stay current with building codes and sustainable design practices
- Guide and mentor team on sustainable design practices
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Science, Architecture, or related field
- Experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus in energy modeling, simulation, and sustainable design
- Strong knowledge of building codes and standards related to energy efficiency
- Experience with energy modeling software such as IESVE or similar tools
- BASIC UNDERSTANDING OF BUILDING AUTOMATION SYSTEM CONTROLS STRATEGY AND DESIGN PRINCIPLES
