Overview and Responsibilities

Summary

We are in search of skilled Respiratory Therapists (RRT / CRT / RN) to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will educate, train, and monitor patients utilizing ventilators, PAP therapy, home oxygen, and various respiratory devices. Your clinical expertise will be essential in assessing patient needs and effectively communicating your observations to the physician. Our care model is designed to ensure that patients receive tailored care that meets their unique needs and medical conditions.

This position encompasses responsibilities across multiple locations.

PRN positions (Per Diem/ Paid Per Set-Up): As a member of Rotech, you will have the flexibility to create your own schedule by selecting the number of setups you wish to complete each week. Compensation is provided per setup, ranging from $5.00 to $100.00 per service.

  • Maintain an up-to-date list of all current respiratory patients.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing phone communications with all respiratory patients in accordance with Rotech policy.
  • Perform in-home visits to patients as per Rotech's guidelines.
  • Conduct patient assessments following Rotech's protocols and physician's orders, which may include:
    • Verbal assessments (e.g., patient history, symptom review, etc.)
    • Physical assessments (e.g., lung auscultation, blood pressure, etc.)
    • Diagnostic tests (e.g., spirometry, oximetry, sleep studies)
  • Provide patient education on:
    • Proper use and maintenance of respiratory equipment
    • Physician's prescriptions for equipment
    • Importance of adherence to prescribed therapies
    • Benefits of therapy
    • Consequences of noncompliance
    • Potential side effects of therapy
  • Set up advanced respiratory equipment, including but not limited to:
    • Invasive Ventilators
    • Noninvasive Ventilators
    • Infant Monitors
    • Other specialized respiratory devices as defined by branch scope of service
  • Monitor the ongoing functionality of advanced respiratory equipment.
  • Document all services rendered and work performed in accordance with Rotech's policies.
  • Be available for on-call responsibilities for phone consultations outside of regular business hours as per Rotech's policy.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new personnel as directed by the Area Manager.
  • Perform additional duties as required by state licensure laws and as defined by the Area Manager.
Qualifications

Employment is contingent upon:

  • Background investigation (company-wide)
  • Drug screening (when applicable)
  • Valid driver's license in the state of residence with a clean driving record (when applicable)

Required Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Credentials as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) are preferred; other medical credentials may be acceptable depending on state licensure laws.
  • Must be licensed in the primary state of residence as required by law and provide a copy of the license to the location.
  • May need to obtain licensure in neighboring states as required by the service area.

Preferred Education and/or Experience

  • Completion of an accredited respiratory care program is preferred.
  • Nursing or other paramedical training may be acceptable based on state licensure laws.
  • Experience in home respiratory care is preferred.
  • A degree in respiratory therapy or a related field is preferred.
  • One year of relevant work experience is preferred.

Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations accurately.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written.
  • Ability to interpret various forms of communication (verbal, non-verbal, written, listening, and visual).
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information.
  • Ability to multi-task while paying attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and skilled in time management and problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Machines, Equipment, and Technical Abilities

  • Proficient in email communication and internet navigation.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to operate office equipment such as fax machines, copiers, printers, and computers/tablets.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift and carry office equipment as needed.
  • Requires close vision for reading small print on computer screens and paperwork.
  • Involves contact with patients and equipment, with potential exposure to contagious pathogens.
  • Occasional lifting and transporting of patient equipment may be required.
  • Requires sitting, walking, standing, talking, and listening.
  • Must comply with Rotech's Respiratory Protection & N95 Mask Fit Testing Policy, including timely medical evaluations and fit testing compliance.
