Job Summary:

The Respiratory Therapist will administer respiratory care to patients with cardiopulmonary system deficiencies and abnormalities. This role will also involve training and acting as a resource for the respiratory department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain knowledge of oxygen delivery methods, including equipment and potential side effects.
  • Administer respiratory therapy and nebulized medications.
  • Set up and monitor mechanical ventilators and associated critical care duties for all age groups.
  • Perform arterial punctures to obtain blood samples for analysis, understand complications and contraindications, and provide treatment based on result interpretation.
  • Record patient treatment, response, and progress.
  • Inspect, test, maintain, and operate respiratory therapy equipment.
  • Collaborate with other departments and disciplines to coordinate patient care.
  • Attend department meetings.

Requirements:

  • Montana licensure as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist Certification (NBRC).
  • American Heart Association BLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • American Heart Association ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • American Heart Association PALS certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required within 8 months of hire.
  • 1 year of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Advanced math skills to collect, analyze, interpret, and present complex data.
  • Detail-oriented, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize.
  • Ability to work in a busy and stressful environment.
  • Ability to work varied shifts.
  • Exercises tact, discretion, sensitivity, and maintains confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, MS Office, EMR, internet applications, and standard office equipment.
