We are seeking a highly skilled and certified lifeguard to join our team at the University of New Mexico. As a lifeguard, you will be responsible for maintaining patron surveillance of the facility, enforcing rules and regulations, and providing emergency care and treatment as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain accurate documentation of headcount, first aid practices, and other relevant information
- Perform cleaning duties and maintain a safe and clean environment
- Act immediately and appropriately to secure the safety of patrons in the event of an emergency
- Provide emergency care and treatment as a team, adhering to American Red Cross standards and procedures
- Current certification in first aid, AED, oxygen, and lifeguarding for the professional rescuer through Red Cross
- Ability to swim 500 yards in 10 minutes or less, swim with a 10-pound brick for 25 yards, and retrieve a 10-pound brick from 14 feet depth and tread with it on the surface for one minute
- Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check and submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check
- Additional certifications or training in areas such as CPR, AED, or water rescue
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
