CNC MACHINING SPECIALIST

Position Title:
CNC Machinist FTE Status: Full Time

Reports To:
Production Manager

Primary Objective of the Role:
Maximizes the efficiency of machinery, tools, and workforce. Responsible for programming,

setting up tooling, and operating CNC milling machines. Aids in production machining and

finishing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program CNC milling machines for optimal performance.
  • Conduct tooling operations and machining tasks.
  • Support manufacturing processes and produce required parts.
  • Manage workload to align with production targets.
  • Implement machine/process designs and enhancements to boost productivity and
reduce waste and rework.

  • Estimate production timelines, staffing needs, and associated costs for management insights.


  • Interpret sketches or verbal instructions to visualize parts and equipment.
  • Oversee the fabrication and installation of new machinery.
  • Operate manual machines, including lathes, mills, grinding, and water jet equipment.
  • Provide training to others within the machining environment.
  • Maintain and service machine tools and capital equipment.
  • Assist in the repair of capital machinery.
  • Effectively manage job-related stress and foster positive interactions in the workplace.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform other assigned duties as necessary.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Familiarity with quality systems and QC methodologies; LEAN Manufacturing experience preferred.

Awareness of safety hazards and precautions in the machining field.

Ability to comprehend and execute oral and written instructions.

Capability to adhere to established policies and procedures, working both independently and collaboratively.

Ability to maintain professional relationships.

Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating effectively in English.

Ability to interpret technical data, blueprints, and engineering sketches.

Skills in gas and electric welding are advantageous.
Preferred Education/Experience

High School Diploma or General Education Degree

Vocational training or hands-on experience in machine operations and CNC programming.

Any combination of experience, education, training, and qualifications that provide an equivalent background to perform the duties of this position may be considered by

management.

Reporting Structure:

  • Directly reports to the Production Manager.
  • Works autonomously and as part of a collaborative team.
  • May provide guidance to subordinate staff.

Work Environment:
Primarily indoor work within a manufacturing facility, with some outdoor tasks. Potential

hazards are present when working with energized machinery and equipment.

This role requires the ability to perform essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation. Duties include operating various machines using hands and/or feet. The position necessitates continuous and/or frequent communication, repetitive hand/wrist motions, auditory skills, and handling tasks. Mental activities involved include decision-making, interpersonal skills, teamwork, creativity, customer service, discretion, problem-solving, and proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English. Physical activities may involve prolonged standing on concrete surfaces, walking, bending, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crawling, reaching, grasping, finger dexterity, repetitive hand/wrist motions, sitting, hearing, and lifting/pushing/pulling or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
