Conveyor Systems Specialist

As a Conveyor Technician at J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc., you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our automated conveyor systems. Under general supervision, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of these systems and associated equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Install, align, and test new automated conveyor systems according to layout specifications, manuals, and electrical/mechanical schematics.
- Perform preventative maintenance on conveyor systems, including lubrication, adjustments, belt/chain replacements, and cleaning.
- Diagnose and repair malfunctions of automated conveyors, motors, sensors, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and related electronic controls.
- Troubleshoot issues with system PLCs, variable frequency drivers (VFDs), and human machine interface (HMI).
- Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic/pneumatic schematics and diagrams.
- Partner with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to coordinate installations, repairs, and system upgrades.
- Maintain documentation of all work performed by updating logs and checklists.
- Adhere to all lockout/tagout, confined space, and other safety procedures.
- Minimum Qualifications:
- 18 years of age with a High School Diploma or GED equivalent with at least 3 years of experience working on automated material handling conveyor systems.
- AND Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences:
- Electrical and mechanical tools and test equipment experience.
- Ability to read and understand electrical, PLC, and mechanical blueprints/schematics.
- Familiarity with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or other major PLC brands.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
- Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums.
- Ability to process information with high levels of accuracy.
- Ability to work with minimal direction.
- Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 100 pounds, work at heights using ladders/lifts).
- Willingness to work outdoors in the elements.
- Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends if needed.
- Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE).
This position is not eligible for employment-based sponsorship. The expected starting pay range for this position is between $26-32 per hour.
