Child Care Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and caring Child Care Aide to join our team at New London Hospital. As a Child Care Aide, you will play a vital role in providing quality custodial care for our young patients, ensuring their emotional, physical, intellectual, and social needs are met.
Key Responsibilities- Department Operations
- Assist with activities and encourage children's involvement, interacting with each child in a caring and supportive manner.
- Assist in maintaining the routine of each child according to prescribed procedures, attending to their physical and nurturing needs on an individual basis, while teaching independence.
- Follow established department procedures to ensure consistent and positive child care techniques are followed.
- Promote integral learning and help develop cooperation and supportive attitudes in the classrooms.
- Assist children in controlling behavior using a positive approach.
- Communicate problems and concerns to the Lead Teacher and/or Director.
- Maintain good communication with parents and help them feel at ease at the Child Care Center.
- Contribute to the monthly newsletter as requested.
- Work directly with children and act as a model.
- Quality and Safety
- Assist teachers in creating a safe and secure environment that is orderly, clean, and appealing, permitting children to grow, explore, and learn social skills.
- Maintain a healthy environment by keeping children clean and teaching good hygiene.
- Follow set standards in food preparation and cleanup, and clean and disinfect toys, furniture, and equipment on a routine basis.
- Adhere to all state regulations and accepted practices and procedures of the Child Care Center.
- Report needed repairs to equipment.

- Experience in an early childhood setting is preferred.

- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Current BLS and Water Safety Certification for part-time staff is recommended and preferred for substitute teachers.
