Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Science Expert to support a Department of Justice contract. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in complex data analytics projects, with expertise in leading teams and mentoring scientists.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply advanced pattern-recognition techniques to large structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data sets to automate and optimize data wrangling.
  • Demonstrate technical expertise with data models, data mining, data cleansing, and segmentation techniques.
  • Develop databases using SQL to create complex queries involving joins, subqueries, aggregation, indices, common table expressions, and query optimization/plans.
  • Utilize development experience focused on data manipulation and/or statistics, using applications such as Python, R, SAS, Tableau, and AWS.
  • Exhibit proficiency in both small and big data environments, understanding the tradeoffs in scaling algorithms between differing environments.
  • Conduct and facilitate analyses, issues identification, risk assessment, and decision-making processes, while educating and training others on these topics.
  • Design, develop, and implement the best available models and solutions to agency challenges and requirements.
  • Prepare data, implement data models, and develop data management tools, including databases, to support end-to-end solutions.
  • Maintain working knowledge of federal grant-making policies, procedures, and administration.
  • Exhibit detail-oriented and logical thinking, excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, and excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills.
  • Stay updated with new business and technical concepts.
  • Work with minimal supervision and demonstrate strong team leadership and risk management abilities.

Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Seven (7) years of professional experience in Data Science, and
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or
  • Ten (10) years of relevant experience in Data Science, and
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
