**Job Summary**
TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY is seeking a highly skilled Inventory Control Specialist to join our team in General Stores. In this role, you will be responsible for receiving, issuing, and storing stock, as well as maintaining inventory levels and monitoring stock control records.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Receive and process inventory shipments, including checking purchase orders and freight bills for accuracy.
- Maintain a neat and organized work area, adhering to safety standards and best practices.
- Rotate stock to prevent deterioration and spoilage, and ensure first-in, first-out inventory management.
- Monitor inventory levels and inform manager of low stock quantities.
- Prepare inventory requisitions for shipment and perform other duties as assigned.
**Requirements**
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum one year experience in receiving, issuing, and/or storing stock preferred.
- Valid driver's license from state of residence required.
- Basic knowledge of inventory control procedures and practices.
- Ability to operate mechanical lifting devices, motor vehicles, and office machines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software systems.
**Working Conditions**
The physical and environmental demands of this role include working in an office environment, standing, walking, sitting, and using hand-eye coordination and arm/hand/finger dexterity.
